Following on from 2009′s success of The Lyric Lounge  in Leicester, The Lyric Lounge toured Nottingham, Derby, Loughborough and returned to Leicester in 2010.

This year the Lounge will tour Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Rutland, where lead artists have be commissioned to write inspirational pieces of work. Diverse participants, including young people, will work with internationally renowned spoken word artists and writers, benefitting from workshops, showcases, and the opportunity to explore new venues.

The Lyric Lounge programme is a Writing East Midlands project and is part of the Igniting Ambition contribution to the Cultural Olympiad, which is taking place in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
