John Agard is the renowned playwright, poet and children’s writer and recipient of the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. Critic and novelist David Dabydeen has described his poetry as “a wonderful affirmation of life, in a language that is vital and joyous”.
At Lyric Lounge Derby, at 9.15 on 19th May at Pear Tree Library, Normanton, John will perform from a brand new collection of work commissioned for Renaissance One’s The Independence Project, marking the 50th anniversary of Guyana’s independence from Britain.
