The Lyric Lounge is a vibrant spoken word festival bringing international artists to share the stage with participants and local performers in a spectacular celebration of lyrical prose, music and rhyme.

The first Lyric Lounge was held in 2009, a week long festival taking place at the Y Theatre in Leicester. Building on the resounding successes the first year, the Lounge travelled to Derby, Nottingham and Loughborough in 2010. In 2011 we’re excited to be bringing the festival to Stamford, Northampton, Lincoln, Corby, Oakham and Alford.

Writing East Midlands is the lead organisation responsible for delivery of The Lyric Lounge projects and is the custodian of the brand and identity. We hold Partnership Agreements for delivery of The Lyric Lounge with MLA Renaissance East Midlands, Arts Council England, and Igniting Ambition.

MLA Renaissance East Midlands
Renaissance transforms England’s regional museums, making them world class and fit for the 21^st Century. Renaissance is working with museums to enhance what they offer. It enables museums to maximise capital developments and provides other financial support so that they can attract more visitors, work more effectively with schools, community groups and lifelong learning, make the most of their collections and invest in their staff.

Arts Council England
Arts Council England works to get great art to everyone by championing, developing and investing in artistic experiences that enrich people’s lives.
As the national development agency for the arts, ACE supports a range of artistic activities from theatre to music, literature to dance, photography to digital art, and carnival to crafts.

Igniting Ambition
To help ignite ambition and celebrate the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Igniting Ambition is a series of partnerships which create each year a different showcase festival, before culminating in 2012 in a unique, region-wide, festival of cultural events provisionally entitled The East Midlands Great Exhibition.
